Taoist Ritual Activities - Talismans

The term 'Fu Zuan' originally referred to secret documents of Taoism. The writings that are curved, inscribed with the names of stars and thunder are called 'Fu', while the inscriptions that record the names of officials and subordinates in the celestial courts are called 'Zuan'. Later generations also referred to the 'Fu' used by Taoist priests to summon deities, expel ghosts, cure diseases, and prolong life as 'Fu Zuan'. In Taoist incantations, it is commonly concluded with the phrase 'Ji Ji Ru Lu Ling'.
