Sutra for Delivering the Souls of the Dead Taoist Sutra for Delivering the Souls of the Dead

In the scriptures for delivering souls from the afterlife, both Taoism and Buddhism have relevant scriptures. 12 Taoist scriptures include 'The Scripture of the Supreme Ultimate Saving the Wretched and Delivering from Suffering', 'The Scripture of the Supreme Ultimate Saving People from Suffering', 'The Scripture of the Celestial Venerable Master of the Great Mystery on the Sublime Scripture of Saving from Suffering and Removing Sins', 'The Scripture of the Primordial Venerable Master on Attaining Enlightenment and Reaching Heaven', and 'The Scripture of the Supreme Dao Lord on Resolving Conflicts and Removing Sins', among others. These scriptures can all be used to deliver the souls of the deceased. Buddhist scriptures include 'The Scripture of the Layman's Precepts', 'The Scripture of the Net of Brahma', 'The Scripture of Aspirational Rebirth', 'The Scripture of the Infinite Life', 'The Avatamsaka Sutra', 'The Scripture of the Ground of the Mind', 'The Scripture of Ornamentation', 'The Scripture of Ksitigarbha', and 'The Scripture of the Intermediate State', among others. For example, in the 'Scripture of Ksitigarbha', it is mentioned that when a person is about to die, even if only one family member remains, by loudly reciting the Buddha's name for the sake of the patient, the dying person will have all their karmic retribution except for the five irredeemable sins eliminated.
